METAL CORNERS: STRENGTHEN THE CHARACTER AND DURABILITY OF YOUR BOOKS

Metal corners

Fitted to the corners of the cover, metal corners protect the book from knocks and wear while giving it an immediately recognisable look.
They give the book a precious, hard-wearing character and, depending on the DNA of the project, either a retro or a distinctly modern feel.

Protection fitted at the corner

The metal corner is crimped onto the corner of the cover, wrapping the front board and its edge. That is exactly where a book gets damaged: at the bottom of a bag, on a shelf, through repeated handling.

They come in several shapes and colours — gold, silver, black, copper — and are fitted above all to case bindings, but also to Integra covers and heavy-board notebooks.

A finish that shows and that lasts

On a diary or notebook carried every day, metal corners noticeably extend the life of the cover.

On an art book or a limited edition, they work as a sign: that of a book conceived as an object.
They pair readily with coloured edges and a foil-stamped cover.

Frequently asked questions

Which books can take metal corners?

Case bindings and Integra bindings: the board has to be rigid enough for the corner to hold and genuinely protect the angle. A soft cover is not suitable.

What are they for, beyond decoration?

The corners of a book are generally the first thing to suffer. A metal corner takes the knocks and clearly extends the life of the cover, as well as giving the book a precious character.

Which finishes are available?

Gold, silver, black or antiqued brass, plain or decorated. The choice is made in keeping with the art direction of the book.

Does it lengthen the lead time?

It is a step in its own right, to be built into the schedule. The lead time depends on the nature of the project, the type of corner wanted and the quantity to be fitted. Mention it when you ask for a quote, as it affects both price and lead time.
